Bookplate of one A Pugh-Thomas to the front pastedown.

With hundreds of illustrations throughout by Gustave Dore.

Collated, complete with all illustrations.

Gustave Dore was a French printmaker, illustrator and sculptor. His work was primarily with wood engravings.


CONDITION

In a half morocco binding with cloth covered boards. Externally, generally smart with rubbing to the joints and to the extremities. Small loss to the spine. Prior owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with heavy spotting to the endpapers and scattered spots throughout. Offsetting to a large number of pages, the cause mostly being plates. Further offsetting to pages 118-119, 142-143 from something that has previously been inserted.
