Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo (1944)
This is the story of the famed raid over Tokyo in April 1942 led by Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle. The film concentrates on Lt. Ted Lawson the commander of a B25, the RUPTURED DUCK, and its crew. Having accepted the mission without really knowing what they will have to do, their first task is to learn to take off with only 500 ft. of runway. They also have to learn to drop bombs without the use of their NorDEN bomb sites. The plan is to launch B25's from an aircraft carrier 400 hundred miles from Japanese soil. Once they've dropped their bombs on various Japanese targets, they are to fly on to a part of China that is not under Japanese control. For Lawson and his crew, the raid itself goes well but they are forced to crash land in China. The men are cared for by a kindly group of Chinese villagers, but Lawson has to have his leg amputated.

National Velvet (1944)
Mi Taylor was a young wanderer and opportunist whose father had given him 'all the roads in the Kingdom' to travel. One of the roads, and a notation in his father's journal, leads him to the quiet English country-side home of the Brown family. The youngest daughter, Velvet, has a passion for horses and when she wins the spirited steed Pie in a town lottery, Mi is encouraged to train the horse for the Grand National - England's greatest racing event.

The Search (1948)
During the Post-War a group of orphans arrive to an assistance center of the U.S. Army. This is an eclectic group, formed with kids from almost every point of Europe, such as Germany, France, Poland. There's one boy, Karel Malik, who almost say a word and doesn't know to much about himself. He has a french friend, and during a transfer they escape with other scare kids and hide in the ruins of the bombed Berlin. The french boy tragically dies and after being wander around in the streets, Karel meets Ralph, a private of the U.S. Army, who takes the frightened boy to his house. Ralph will teach the boy to speak in English and will take care of him. Everything goes well for Karel, until he begins to question Ralph about his mother. Meanwhile, Karel's mother is desperately searching his son, despite the news about his possible death. Karel's about to travel with Ralph to the United States.

Little Women (1949)
Meg, Josephine, Amy and Beth are the little women who, together with their mother, keep the home fires burning while their preacher father serves with the Union army during the Civil War. Meg, the eldest, is a second mother to the troupe while 'Jo', the tomboy, takes on the role of man of the house. Amy yearns for the good things in life, and Beth, the youngest and frailest of the four, seeks comfort in gentle music. A simple tale of four young girls coming to womanhood. This is a great summary but, I wanted to mention that Beth is not the youngest March sister - Amy is. The order is Meg, Jo, Beth, Amy.

Battleground (1949)
December, 1944. The Nazis, in the face of the onrushing Allies, turned and pushed into the Ardennes Forest in Belgium and Luxembourg for what would be their last major offensive of World War II. During the Battle of the Bulge, as it is now called, they surrounded the town of Bastogne, Belgium, trapping the US Army 101st Airborne Division in the town. To make matters worse for the 101st, thick clouds covered the area for most of the battle. This prevented the Allies from providing air cover and air-dropped supplies to their troops on the ground. This film focuses on one squad of the 101st as they wait for the clouds to break.. Meanwhile, they must survive German spies in US Army uniforms, German artillery, winter weather, dwindling supplies, and the fear of being trapped by a hostile force.

Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo (1944)
Based on a true World War II story of several B25 pilots and their crews who volunteer for a secret mission--the first bombing raid on mainland Japan, ingeniously and boldly launched from an aircraft carrier. Recently married Lt. Ted Lawson is among the volunteers placed under the command of Lt.Col. James Doolittle. Attempting to reach recovery bases in China after successfully accomplishing the bombing, Lawson's bomber crashes on the Chinese coast where he and his crew are rescued by Chinese soldiers.

National Velvet (1944)
A jaded former jockey helps a young girl prepare a wild but gifted horse for England's Grand National Sweepstakes.

The Search (1948)
In post-World War II Germany, The United Nation Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) has to deal with thousand of displaced persons, many of them children. In this group is young Karel Malik, a Czech boy who was in a concentration camp from such a young age that he remembers little if anything of his life before the camps. His mother Anna has also survived the concentration camps and has spent the last 7 months looking for her son. The boy is fearful of adults and has run away from the UNRRA home only to be taken in by a kindly US soldier who is prepared to take the boy home to America.

Little Women (1949)
Louisa May Alcott's autobiographical account of her life with her three sisters in Concord Mass in the 1860s. With their father fighting in the civil war, the sisters: Jo, Meg, Amy and Beth are at home with their mother - a very outspoken women for her time. The story is of how the sisters grow up, find love and find their place in the world.

Battleground (1949)
We follow a band of American soldiers as they engage the Germans in a snowy, foggy winter near Bastogne in World War II. They're low on fuel, rations, and ammunition; the Germans are constantly encouraging their surrender via radio and leaflets, and most importantly, the pervasive thick fog makes movement and identification difficult and prevents their relief by Allied air support. This film focuses much more on the psychology and morale of the soldiers than on action footage and heroics.
