Tanzanite, the blue-varity of Zoisite, is found primarily in a specific area in Tanzania, the area around Mount Kilimanjaro. The stones are found with graphite and are most of the time brown. Most faceted specimens are treated with heat in order to bring out the color. The stone is pleochroic, meaning that on different axis it will display different colors. The most common colors are brown, purple, blue, and green-ish tints.
