Rigor Mortis was an American thrash/speed metal band formed in '83 by Harden Harrison (drums), Casey Orr (vocals/bass), Mike Scaccia (guitar) & Bruce Corbitt (vocals). They recorded some of the heaviest thrash metal at the time (often flirting with death metal) & were 1 of the only major thrash bands from Texas, virtually creating the underground metal scene there. After Cobitt left in ’89, Peter Lee (guitar) joined in ’91. They disbanded in the mid-‘90s. The original lineup reunited & performed at Ozzfest 2008 & in 2009 played in Germany at the Keep It True Festival. In 2012, Scaccia died of a heart attack while performing onstage. In 2014 they released their final studio album Slaves to the Grave (which was recorded in 2012). With no label interested in it at the time, they successfully crowdfunded the album by raising USD$22,838 from fan pre-orders to self-release it. After years of battling cancer, Corbitt died in 2019, aged 56. The remaining members perform Rigor Mortis music under the name Wizards of Gore.
