Grading vintage stamps, First Day Covers (FDC’s) is a subjective process.
As a philatelist, I do my best to put a fair value on items at a bargain price!
I do careful research before listing an item in order to determine an honest price.
I determine the value of vintage stamps & FDC’s by using the Scott Catalog AND by
the age, the rarity, the condition, the country, and the interest of the item’s subject.

Historic Stamps FROM
THE PAST Vintage USA 1955
Commemorative Stamp Handstamped in station “FRESNO, CALIFORNIA” |
|
1955 3¢ Armed Forces Reserves Marine, Coast Guard, Army, Navy, and Air Force Personnel U.S. #1067 was issued to honor America’s Armed Forces reserve
units, which were established in 1908 to provide a pool of medical officers.
In the National Defense Act of 1920, Congress reorganized U.S. land forces
into a Regular Army, National Guard, and Organized Reserve structure. The
stamp features members of the Marines, Coast Guard, Army, Navy, and Air
Force. The purpose of the reserve units is “to provide trained units
and qualified persons available for active duty in the armed forces, in time
of war or national emergency, and at such other times as the national
security may require, to fill the needs of the armed forces whenever more
units and persons are needed than are in the regular components.” Of special interest: FDR – The
Stamp-Collecting President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s mother introduced the future
President to stamp collecting at a young age. Throughout his life, he turned
to his collection to relax and unwind. |
