True unobtanium from the 1950’s is this 1953 Ferrari 166MM steering wheel, originally fitted to chassis #0290M. The wheel was purchased directly from a previous owner of the car, and presents beautifully, having never been restored, oiled or for that matter damaged in any way. The wood retains its original hue, and the guilloche spokes are all in good condition with some wear where one would hold the wheel at 10 and 2. All of the inlaid studs are in great condition, and the wooden pegs to the reverse are all present. This gives the wheel a lovely patina, and it is just waiting to be fitted back on a 50’s Ferrari!
