3M Scott Safety Evacuation / Rescue Hood

The Scott Safety SCBA Rescue Kit.. Developed specifically for workers to make an escape using an ELSA type setup or first responders/fire-fighter with the means to provide a casualty with a source of fresh air from the BA set they are wearing to enable rescue from a hazardous environment. 

The current design is simple and quick to operate, reliable and robust in use.

    The uniquely designed hood is fabricated from PVC coated materials with an ozone resistant neckseal. The three sided flat visor allows the hood to be flat packed avoiding creases to the visor and allowing rapid removal from the bag.

    The large visor area provides excellent peripherial vision with the hood offering a feeling of unrestricted comfort.

    An inner mask prevents misting and minimizes Carbon Dioxide dead space.


    The constant flow hood, manufactured from polyurethane coated viscose. This is flame retardant and coloured for high visibility. This provides a stretch material for a comfortable fit combined with an elastomeric neck seal giving ease of donning. The hood, fitted with either a 1M hose with CEN fitting. Thus allowing connection into an airline attachment or RSM Y-piece. The hood is provided on a length of hose fitted with a CEN type male coupling. This allows connection into the Y-piece or waistbelt mounted RSM connection on Scott Safety SCBA sets. The constant flow hose, restricted to provide the hood wearer with enough airflow for rescue purposes without compromising the fire-fighters air supply.

    The unit is quickly and easily activated by placing over the persons head that requires rescuing and connecting the hose into the Y-piece or RSM attachment on the SCBA set. Upon doing this a constant flow of air is released into the hood. The carrying bag, manufactured from flame retardant PVC coated polyester, which attaches to the SCBA waist belt making it quick and easy to access in any rescue situation.
