POLAND | P-180 | 20 Złotych | UNC |Serie JS | in original folder

On 23rd of September, 2009 - The National Bank of Poland has issued a collector note with the face value of PLN 20 to commemorate the 200th birth anniversary of famous Polish Romantic poet - Juliusz Slowacki who long after his death, has acquired the reputation of national prophet. His poem "Papiez Slowianski" (The Slavic Pope), published in 1848, was believed to foretell the ascension, in 1978, of Karol Wojtyła to the throne of St. Peter as Pope John Paul II.

Avers of the note is the Slowacki portrait with Palace in Krzemieniec (in the background) which is currently used as the museum of Juliusz Slowacki. Reverse side is showing monument of King Zygmunt III Waza in Warsaw, flying cranes and reproduction of original writing of autographed script "Uspokojenie".

It is 3rd Commemorative note in Polish history and as before it was completely sold out in 1st day of issue (only 80 000 notes released !!!). Market value is absolutely unforeseeable but I can suspect it will very very difficult to get within year or two (as previous release of last year) and will double or triple its release price. Winner will receive crisp UNC note with original NBP (Polish Bank) folder released with the note. Good luck with bidding, it may be the only chance for purchase at such nice price.
