Being offered for your consideration is this superb Set of Candlesticks. This beautiful, rare and ornate set is constructed of silver over copper or old "Sheffield Plate". Each is decorated with a leaf and cable pattern in relief. We estimate they were manufactured circa 1840 or earlier. The bases are filled with pitch for weight which was customary at that time period. They are in remarkable condition and have not been re-plated. We have found no repair work, or damage with plating wear commensurate with age (see images). Each candlestick measures 10 3/8" tall and 5" in diameter at the base. One of the prettiest sets you will find and in remarkable condition! |
