This is a set of replacement feet for most later model Torpedo 18, 18b, or rebranded Bluebird typewriters. Unlike black rubber imitations sold by others, these are a lovely steel gray color that match the originals! These feet should be a match for all Torpedo 18 variations as far as I know, including Bluebird models, in either the covered or uncovered variations. These machines hail from the 1950's-1960's, and despite that "young" age the rubber is likely hard as a rock and no longer grips the table. These are improved replacement feet using modern 3D Printing techniques and materials, customers tell me they look and function better than the original rubber ever could have, and will hopefully last a lot longer!

It is a great thing that myself and many others are making replacement parts for the typewriter community, and I embrace competition. What I don't like is the misinformation and spin that's out there. "Shore Hardness" is not a useful metric today, it is an old technical parameter that quantifies how weak a raw material is. So, "70A Shore Hardness" simply means the rubber feet are weaker, more susceptible to being punctured, than the 85A material I use. What really matters is grip and flexibility, and my advanced 3D structured feet are excellent at both of those. Natural rubber begins degrading the moment it is cast, it's volatile, this is why it has a strong smell, and why you need to replace your feet to begin with! Also, you don't want black feet for your Torpedo, they are supposed to be gray. Consider all the facts in your decision :)

I have updated this listing to include the new option for Case Feet. Sadly, not a single TWDB Torpedo 18 listing shows photos of the case bottom, but I do see that the older years of this machine used the older "black wooden box" case design, and I don't know what feet it needs. Please look closely at the photos, and measure your feet, these are 26mm x 26mm x 5.7mm, the center washer is 16mm x 1.93mm, and the screw is 4mm at the thickest part of the shaft. If these numbers seem right for your machine, they probably fit. Washers and screws not included with Case Feet, you need your originals!

Pay particular attention to the foot style (if they exist on yours), or at least placement of the mounting points and metal covers (see my photos). While front and back mount differently for the covered version, all four feet are actually the same design within each variation (covers, no covers). You must pick one of the two variants based on your machine--feet to be used with metal covers, or "open" feet with no covers.

The foot cover design made these extremely difficult to design, it's subtly irregular and a precise fit is needed to fit the covers and look great for the very slim amount that shows at the bottom. I designed these to be nearly an identical replacement, but with the advantages of modern technology we can engineer materials that were previously impossible. I printed with NinjaFlex Gray TPU (https://ninjatek.com/ninjaflex/), which is nearly indestructible in ordinary use (but a knife or scissors will cut it, just like rubber!), flexible, and pretty gripping on most surfaces. I printed these with a complex infill (with a flexible gyroid fill structure) for a balance between good friction on the table, tight fit on the machine and shock absorption. There are solid layers to support the mounting screws and reduce compression at the thinly exposed bottom part, with the rest spongy and compressible. These look and function much like the original, but should last much longer and be far more durable. Some people may prefer the original dull rubber look, but these have superior look and performance compared to molded/cast rubber.

The uncovered version just screws onto the machine using the original screws and metal square washers. There is a washer both on top and bottom of the foot (at least on mine), and this foot is designed so that the washer fits snugly into the top. If you don't have a top washer, you will need to fill this cavity with the included plastic washer. If you have original top washers use them instead, you can discard these plastic ones.

PS: Ebay's volume discount display is a bit confusing, each purchase is a SET OF FOUR feet, so picking "1" is one set of 4; "2" is 2 sets of 4 (8), etc.

** PSS: Typewriter not included! Aluminum foot covers and hardware are shown for illustration only and are NOT INCLUDED, you should have those originals on your machine **

Compatibility Info: Please don't order unless you checked, email me with questions! As far as I can tell, this should fit any Torpedo 18 style machines from the 1960's so long as they look like my photos--rectangular (19.5mm x 40.6mm x 10.6mm) and mount with the metal clip/bracket as shown (this is critical as the feet fit into the covers). For the uncovered version the fit is more flexible. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR ORIGINAL METAL HARDWARE TO INSTALL THESE, THIS IS NOT INCLUDED.

PS: Ebay's volume discount display is a bit confusing, each purchase is a SET OF FOUR feet, so picking "1" is one set of 4; "2" is 2 sets of 4 (8), etc. You get one set in one color only, plus the plastic top washers if you pick "uncovered", everything else pictured such as typewriter and metal hardware is NOT INCLUDED (you need to save your original hardware!).
