Stunning Mary Ann Scherr gilt sterling silver an Brazilian agate necklace.  Very rare piece and rarer since it is sterling vermeil.  

Circa mid 1970s.  9 1/4” long and 7” wide and agate is 4 1/2” by 2 1/4”. 

The necklace is curved to fit around the neck and shoulders.  Necklace is signed and marked Reed and Barton, sterling. 

Her work is found in many permanent collections, including The Vatican Museum of Art in Rome,  The Metropolian museum.  The Museum of Arts and Design,  The Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, The Smithsonian Institution-Medical Division, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
