Historic Stamps FROM THE PAST FIVE Vintage 1907, 1926 Definitive
Stamps Sower - solid background FROM France Country in Western Europe France, in Western Europe, encompasses medieval
cities, alpine villages and Mediterranean beaches. Paris, its capital, is
famed for its fashion houses, classical art museums including the Louvre and
monuments like the Eiffel Tower. The country is also renowned for its wines
and sophisticated cuisine. Lascaux’s ancient cave drawings, Lyon’s Roman
theater and the vast Palace of Versailles attest to its rich history. ―

Series: Sower - solid
background The Semeuse Type French
stamps were first introduced during 1903.
Semeuse, in French, means "Sower". The new design features a French farm girl
walking across a plowed field at sunrise.
She is carrying a bag of seed in one hand, and spreading the seeds
with the other hand. La Semeuse has
been one of the most prominent allegorical symbols of France for more than a
century. |

Definition of Definitive
Stamp A definitive stamp is a stamp that is
issued to serve as an all-purpose stamp, and is produced for an extended
period of time (weeks, months or in many cases, years). They are almost
always part of a series of stamps, called a definitive series, where a wide
range of denominations are issued. The entire series may be issued at one
time, or they may be issued over a span of years. Most definitive series of
stamps concentrate on a specific person or office (such as a president,
monarch, or prime minister) or a specific theme (such as flags, buildings, or
occupations). |
