This is the latest model of the very popular Fishing Knobby Mag Brake Conversion Kit for Flat sided Abu 5000, 6000 or 7000 series of reels.  The spacers are manufactured from marine grade stainless steel to protect from the salt and the anodized adjuster knobs make them a very attractive kit.  This kit requires the drilling of a 8mm hole in your side plate however unlike other fishing mag kits you do not need to glue a spacer to your side plate, making them a lot more robust.  It can be fitted in any position on the side plate adjacent to the graduated chrome ring, allowing level winds and ratchets to be retained if required.

This pattern of conversion is a lot smaller and therefore less obtrusive than the tournament version.  The single rare earth magnet winds off anti-clockwise approximately 0.8mm per turn of the knob and although those anglers with nimble fingers could wind the magnets off during the cast it is really designed to be set at the start of a fishing session and left.
