"Do You have a Match?"..... you never get asked that anymore.
Remember this being your spot and the good times you had? Did you work, manage or do a shift there? Or did your family own this establishment? Was this place in the neighborhood and went there many times?
Did you have two or "three on a match"???? (we hope not). We loved it, when you could just light up and smoke inside your "corner hang-out" or local Tap, sit at the bar with a drink, maybe a Bombay Sapphire Martini at Jay's or at Faces on Rush Street, or even light up a Cigar, while dining out at Morton's? Gibson's? Tavern On Rush?.. or sit and have a cup of coffee for 3 hours at the Gold Coin (Devon and Western Avenue), Hollywood Grill (North and Ashland Avenue) or Manny's (Roosevelt Road).
It was popular to have breakfast at the Golden Nugget Restaurant (on Broadway near Bryn Mawr in the Edgewater Beach Chicago 60660 area) and read the sports section and smoke Viceroy Cigarette's sitting at the counter or in your own booth for 3 hours, drinking coffee, filling up an ashtray.
Then you had to go stand 15 feet from the door, the same day the Condo Association sends you a notification you can't smoke on your own balcony or you will be fined!!
If you lived in the Midwest or an area similar to Chicago, Illinois, 60660 or 60626 near Lake Shore Drive right off Hollywood and Ardmore Avenue, it would be MINUS -20 degrees with snow blowing sideways and then you had to stand in a "gangway" or "vestibule" to "cup your hands to light up" defending against "The Hawk"
This is a perfect addition to your Humidor? Stash-box? Man-Cave? She-Shed? Purse? Fanny Pack? Bike Bag? Glove Compartment? Tool Box? Gym/Work Locker, Light the water heater/furnace......Fun Fact: Back in the day, a match was used as a "roach clip"
It's convenient to keep a book of matches in your jacket pocket or backpack, they could save your life in an emergency. Light-weight as well. We recommend keeping a few packs in your vehicle or trunk.
