| Synopsis: | The exploits of four friends, who are socially only marginally above what one of them calls 'the freaks', are presented as they grow from their late teen years into adults and as they go on their quest, usually unsuccessfully, for such grown up things as beer and sex. Simon Cooper, Jay Cartwright and Neil Sutherland have been friends for some time. Insecure Simon's main quest in life is to get long time friend, Carli D'Amato, to be his girlfriend. Jay is the big talker whose stories, especially about his sexual conquests, are more fantasy than reality. And slightly dim-witted Neil is generally two steps behind everyone else in comprehension of life, and who is always defending his father from beliefs that he's a closet homosexual. Into the group comes its fourth member, Will McKenzie, who met them when he transferred into their school, Rudge Park Comprehensive, at the start of sixth form, as Will's newly divorced mum could no longer afford his private school tuition. Nerdish and straight-laced Will, ridiculed for carrying a briefcase, insinuated himself in the group - not aiming his sights too high - as he tried not to be labeled as one of the freaks. Regardless, he is still the target of the school's 'psycho bully', Mark Donovan, and the head of Rudge Park's sixth form, Mr. Gilbert. Will's initial saving grace in bonding with his new mates may have been that they all want to shag his pretty but protective mother, Polly.
Season 1 The First Day S1, Ep1 May 1, 2008 When his father walks out on his mother and himself, bespectacled, nerdy Will McKenzie is forced to leave his private school and enroll at the local comprehensive, where his accent and appearance make him an easy target for the school psycho. Seeking to make friends with 'normal' boys he pals up with Jay, Neil and Simon, but none of them are exactly winners, as is evidenced when they try to buy alcohol in a pub. Bunk Off S1, Ep2 May 1, 2008 The four bunk off School and get drunk. Will tells Carli D'amato he loves her by writing it on her drive way in big letters. It ends badly when Simon and Will's parents find out what they've been doing all day. Thorpe Park S1, Ep3 May 8, 2008 Simon passes his driving test at the first attempt, less on account of his skills than the fact that the Tracey, the saucy examiner, finds him cute. As promised, he agrees to take his three friends to Thorpe Park, where he can get in free as he knows the man who clears up the sick. Once on the road, Will, Jay and Neil realize that Simon is a rubbish driver. Girlfriend S1, Ep4 May 15, 2008 To the amazement - and annoyance - of the other three boys, Will takes off with Charlotte Hinchcliffe, the most desired girl in the school, and he even ends up in bed with her though he keeps his socks on. Caravan Club S1, Ep5 May 22, 2008 When Jay, sex-obsessed as ever, tells the other boys that Camber Sands Caravan Club is a hot-bed for swingers they decide to call his bluff and go along for the weekend. Xmas Party S1, Ep6 May 29, 2008 As the only person to have volunteered for the job, Will is elected Chairman of the Organization Party for the end of term Christmas bash and ropes the other three boys into being his assistants. Simon, needless to say, is keen to use the opportunity to declare his public love for Carli D'Amato, which proves to be anything but a good idea. Season 2 The Field Trip S2, Ep1 Apr. 2, 2009 On a field trip to the Dorset coast Jay fails to locate the mythical housewife who deflowers schoolboys, Neil becomes a (pedophile) teacher's pet and Will and Simon fall out over pretty new girl Lauren. To cut their losses the boys take a boat around the bay but Simon falls in and ends up nude in front of the whole coach party with only a sock to cover his modesty. Work Experience S2, Ep2 Apr. 9, 2009 Following a disappointing Valentines Day a mix-up in the work experience programme means that Neil gets to work in a newspaper office whilst Will is stuck in a garage, where he gets stripped and thrown in a pond as an initiation ceremony. Unwisely he inadvertently invites a work colleague to the school disco, where Simon gets a pleasant surprise from a female admirer. A run-in with a younger boy, however, means that ultimately the boys end up facing their customary public humiliation. Will's Birthday S2, Ep3 Apr. 16, 2009 It's Will's seventeenth birthday and he is planning a dinner party but it clashes with a more popular bash so that his only guests are Neil, Jay, Simon and Simon's exchange student Patrice. Out of boredom they gate-crash the other party but only one of them is asked to stay and then bedded by the hostess as a sex object. The other four are sent packing. Needless to say none of those four are French. Night Out in London S2, Ep4 Apr. 23, 2009 Will decides the boys should reinvent themselves as trendy clubbers and they drive to London in Simon's car, though to gain entry to the best club in town Simon must swap his trainers for a tramp's filthy old shoes. Neil cuts his penis weeing into a can and when Jay inspects the damage they are ejected as perverts. Can things get any worse for the lads? The wheel-clamping of Simon's car might provide the answer. The Duke of Edinburgh Awards S2, Ep5 Apr. 30, 2009 Will is asked to co-ordinate the school's Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and recruits the other boys to assist, even though Neil and Jay have no idea who the Duke is. Their first task is as volunteers in an old folks' home, where Daisy, Will's pretty ex-baby-sitter, is a care assistant, though his date with her goes wrong after a cruel prank played on him by Jay. And it is Jay's customarily sex-mad behaviour that gets the boys tossed off - an operative phrase - the scheme for good. Exam Time S2, Ep6 May 7, 2009 The end of term exams loom. Simon, to the detriment of his own subjects, is excited when Carli comes to his house to revise, revealing that she is single again and rewarding him with kisses. Jay, for once, swaps lust for romance when he is smitten by Chloe, a sweet young girl from another school. Neil forgets his P.E. kit but gets through in his vest and pants and Will has an accident with his bowels after too many energy drinks but still gets his grades. However, Chloe drops Jay for being ""too sensitive"", Carli goes back to her ex-boyfriend and the boys end up with ...
Season 3 The Fashion Show S3, Ep1 Sep. 13, 2010 Jay is annoyed when Carli asks Simon and not him to be a model in her charity fashion show, the proceeds going towards a kidney machine to help the unaccountably popular wheelchair-bound Alistair Scott. Against his principles Wil takes the money at the door, when not fighting Alistair, but is thrilled when Charlotte returns and asks him to take part with her on the catwalk. Simon ends up modeling skimpy bathing trunks and, in his hurry to put them on, literally lets it all hang out. Unlike the onlookers, Carli is not amused. The Gig and the Girlfriend S3, Ep2 Sep. 20, 2010 Simon takes Tara, a girl in the class below him to a gig at a pub, where,to impress her, he has told her that he can get any drugs - courtesy of Jay. Jay's first attempt to score ends up with him buying tea-bags though eventually he does obtain some puff. None of the boys have smoked it before though and, whilst Simon gets it together with Tara, Will suffers severe side effects and takes to the stage to request an ambulance. Will's Dilemma S3, Ep3 Sep. 27, 2010 It's Neil's eighteenth birthday and his dad is throwing him a party to which he can invite ten friends - not that he has that many. Simon, seriously dating Tara, arranges a double date for Will with her extremely tall and rapacious friend Kerry. Despite Will's efforts she is not easy to shake off and, at Neil's dreary party, he dumps her, unaware that her father has just died, which leads to his vilification. Neil, however, takes advantage of the situation to have a happy birthday. Trip to Warwick S3, Ep4 Oct. 4, 2010 Anxious to be alone so they can have sex Tara suggests to Simon they visit her sister Sophie at Warwick University but the other boys insist on coming too. Sophie is not impressed. Whilst Simon, thanks to bad advice from Jay, is having trouble with his manhood in the bedroom the others get involved with Sophie's beery flat-mates and their drunken dares. After Neil has wet the bed and Jay made an indecent proposal to a cold-stricken Dutch girl, all four boys are thrown out and Simon is still a virgin. Will Is Home Alone S3, Ep5 Oct. 11, 2010 Already under pressure from Mr. Gilbert to rat on Neil and Jay for destroying a flower bed, Will does not think it a good idea that the other boys come to his house to throw a party whilst his mother is on a weekend break in the Cotswolds with an old flame. And he is right. Not only do they block the toilet and alter his Facebook picture but set about destroying more flowers in a neighbour's garden. Next morning the boys find themselves under siege from the angry gardener but there's no hiding place as Will's mother returns home early. Camping Trip S3, Ep6 Oct. 18, 2010 Whilst Neil worries that he has got the girl from the cheese counter at ASDA pregnant, Simon is upset that his family must move to Swansea for his father's work. Will suggests a farewell camping trip for the four boys, though he is less than happy when the others use his possessions to light the camp-fire and Simon is not pleased when Neil and Jay let his car run into a lake. After a game in which each of them texts somebody on another's phone Neil discovers that he is not a father after all and the boys bond in their own odd way.
The Inbetweeners Series 1-3 boxset follows the often misguided footsteps of four friends, Will, Simon, Neil and Jay, as they try to navigate their way through sixth form, with their hormones running riot. None of our heroes are exceptional, all are distinctly average: Will is constantly trying to raise their social standing, Simon is a hopeless romantic who is obsessed with schoolmate Carli, Neil is sometimes so slow it's more like owning a pet than having a friend, and Jay is a borderline sex pest constantly bragging about imaginary sexual experiences. |
