Nathan “Nearest” Green was America’s first African American master distiller. Uncle Nearest, as he was known to his friends and family, famously taught Jack Daniel’s to make Whiskey back in the mid-1800’s. He is credited with helping to perfect the Lincoln County Process (filtration through maple charcoal) that is a distinctive feature of Tennessee Whiskey to this day.
Uncle Nearest 1884 is the proud legacy of the Godfather of Tennessee Whiskey. Each small batch comes from barrels chosen by Uncle Nearest’s founders, and curated by 5th generation Green descendant, Master Blender, Victoria Eady Butler.
This multi award winning Whiskey has been matured for at least 7 years in new American Oak casks. A classic Tennessee Whiskey with aromas and flavours of honey, vanilla, freshly churned butter, buttered popcorn, and aromatic wood spice.
