Rust and Rot ~ Purveyors of wonderful things.

Welcome to the sale of this impressive antique microscope.

This solid brass high end microscope was made by Smith and Beck and has a serial number of 2404 which dates it approximately from 1859 to 1860. It comes in it original fitted mahogany case and includes an array of lenses, adaptors and instruments, including a bulls eye condensing lens. I am no expert in microscopes and cannot tell you what these items do. There are four small spaces in the case where items are missing and several items that have no slots and must be additions. There are a few loose pieces of wood from the case which will be bagged and included. Everything mechanical appears to move freely as it should.

Condition is very subjective on antique scientific instruments, with one persons perfect being another's poor. With this in mind no guarantee is given for fit and function, so please have a good look at the photographs and satisfy yourself that you are happy with the condition and what is included. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions and I will do my best to help.

The microscope measures (in cm, approx) 47 tall, 14 wide and 18 deep.

The case measures, 42 tall, 16 wide and 22 deep.  It weighs 7.3kg
