Build-your-own wildlife container-pond plant pack. 4 x bare-root marginal pond plants (see examples in pic 9) 2 x bunches of oxygenating pondweeds (see examples in pic 7) and 2 x pond snails (pic 8).

An ideal child-friendly project even for the smallest of gardens. Create your very own aquatic wildlife haven. First find yourself a container (a large washing-up bowl will do!) and a few pebbles and stones. Sink the container into the ground (a partly shaded spot will stop the water from becoming too hot in the sun) and fill it with water.

Arrange some pebbles or large stones towards the edge of your container and place the roots of the marginal plants within the gaps, use a few more pebbles to hold the plants in place. The plants should be level with (or just slightly below) the water surface. No soil is needed, they will soon grow and spread....and attract passing damselflies, dragonflies etc. The stones will act as a ramp to enable wildlife to climb in and out of the water.
The oxygenators can be placed towards the centre of the container (up to a maximum of 18" or so deep) and the root-end of the bunch held in place with a stone. These will absorb any excess nutrients from the water keeping it fresh and clear and will help to create a natural habitat for wildlife, invertibrates and amphibians.
The snails can just be placed amongst the oxygenators and left to sort themselves out.

You will receive:- 4 different bare-root marginal pond plants of our choice (examples shown in the photos include Forget-me-not, water mint, water fringe), 2 different bunches of oxygenating pondweeds (again, depending on what is available on the day of dispatch) 2 x pond snails (Stagnalis).
