DESCRIPTION

The first UK edition, first impression of these two plays from American writer Amiri Baraka, at the time writing under the name LeRoi Jones. In the publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper.

A political allegory depicting black and white relations in the 1960s, 'Dutchman' details the story of a black man meeting a white woman while riding the New York subway. The second play present, 'The Slave' is similarly described as 'centred on Negro-white conflict'.

Loosely inserted is a poster and advertising pamphlet for the 1967 British film adaptation, starring Shirley Knight and Al Freeman, Jr.


CONDITION

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. Light shelf wear to back strip head and tail, with boards clean and bright. Edge wear to head and tail of dust wrapper back strip, with light marks to rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
