Original 1926 Gelatin Silver Photograph
Cincinnati Bearcats Basketball Team
This is a studio-posed photograph of 8 members of the team, plus two gentlemen in suits. It came from an estate auction that included a large collection of historical sports photographs.
This photo is typical early paperboard-mounted gelatin silver, still mounted on its original board, which was apparently trimmed down almost to the size of the photo paper sometime in the past, probably to fit it into a photo frame. There is something illegible in pencil on the back of the board. The photo is sealed in a plastic protective sleeve.
The basketball says "1925-26."
The pennant below it says "BIG 4 AA CINCINNATI."
The standing team members are wearing jerseys that appear to say "BIG FOUR AA."
The seated team members are wearing sleeveless jerseys that say "CINCINNATI."
Disclaimer: I am not an expert in identifying historic sports teams. Based on the information in the photo, I believe you are looking at the Cincinnati Bearcats. If anyone has information to the contrary, please don't hesitate to message me. Thank you.
DIMENSIONS: The photographic image is approx. 7½"x9½", which was a common size at that time.

- As mentioned, the original backing board has been trimmed almost to the size of the photo paper.
- The photo is in beautifully preserved condition. Other than some pin-size spots (for example, on the necks of the two team members in front), there are no issues to mention.
The above is my good-faith attempt to disclose all noteworthy issues. Keep
in mind that vintage/antique items always show their age. (Don't we
all!?) It would be impossible to mention every tiny detail, so please
expect that there will be something about this item (or lot) that's not perfect and may need touch-up.

Please be aware -- as with ALL antique and vintage paintings, prints, and other framed items -- that there is a potential (though unlikely) that the original paint on the frame may contain lead compounds, and (even MORE unlikely, though possible) asbestos-related materials. If this is a concern, one option is that you can apply a clear matte sealer over it so nobody comes in direct contact with the original paint.
