General Description:

Prinicipally Quercus alba, but also Q. prinus and Q. lyrata.  Found throughout the Eastern United States and South Eastern Canada.  Generally straight grained and even textured.  The heartwood is pale coloured, yellow-brown to biscuit with a pinkish tint - similar to European Oak.  Generally straight grained with the characteristic silver grain on quartered material. The timber typically weighs around 760kg/m3.  

Uses :

American oak is milder than European oak to work and has a great many uses including furniture and cabinet making, and all types of high class joinery.  It is ideal for many types of woodcrafts and glues, stains and polishes well.

This timber can be delivered by carrier or collection is possible by arrangement from our works near Eccleshall, Stafford (approximately 9 miles from Junctions 14 or 15 of the M6).  The delivery shown is for mainland UK delivery (England, Wales and Scotland excluding highlands).  Payment should be via PayPal or cash on collection.
