This listing is for an original nursing uniform dress and hat from the Fordham Hospital in the Bronx. It belonged to 99 year old woman who spent her life as a nurse after training at Fordham University in the early 1940s.  She was a nurse at Camp Onata in NY, the occupational nurse at the Frankford Arsenal and the Social Security Administration in Philadelphia. 

The dress was made by Bruck's and is a size 8.  It is made of gray cotton with white cotton on the collar and sleeve cuffs. It buttons in the front with mother of pearl shank buttons with cotter pins that can be removed for laundering. There is a pocket on the front panel of the skirt and a slot for a name badge on the front bodice panel.  The Fordham Hospital patch sewn onto one of the cuffs and the owner's name is on a tag sewn onto the back of the neck.

The hat is made of stiffened white cotton with black trim. It buttons in the back with a pair of removable mother of pearl buttons.

Condition: The dress was laundered a lot and there are several small holes and tears in the fabric, especially around the pockets.    The buttons are slightly mismatched and some of the cotter pins are missing.
