C.1912 RARE 19" FRITZ BEHN "DANCER NIJINSKY" ART DECO HARLEQUIN SCULPTURE BY KARLSRUHE

This hand painted sculpture dates from 1912 and is a depiction of Ukranian ballet dancer Vaslav Nijinsky; considered to be one of the greatest dancers of the early 20th century.

Fritz Behn is an important German sculpture, with notable works exhibited in museums globally. This particular piece ("Dancer Nijinsky") is part of the Badisches Landesmuseum Karlsruhe collection, and has also exhibited in the Athenian Benaki Museum, as part of their art deco exhibition. https://www.archaeology.wiki/blog/2017/03/15/art-nouveau-karlsruhe-athens/

CONDITION
Vintage/antique from c.1912. Heavy crazing throughout, which have resulted in some more pronounced underglaze cracking, around the dancer's feet (See last photo) There is some uneven paintwork also in this area, which is underglaze. It is believed this is due to the fact that the figure is hand-painted and not a sign of restoration, but please refer to the last photos for detail.
