Live fish food is the best food your fish can get. It is great as a main died or a weekly treat. If you think of breeding fish - bloodworm or tubifex diet will help to condition your fish before breeding and Baby brine shrimp will be one of the first foods your baby fish will eat.
Have you got some picky feeders (pipefish, elephant nose, knife fish) or shy fish? Live foods will wake their instincts and hopefully save your fish.
Not to mention the fun of watching your fish go crazy chasing daphnia in the tank.
Preparation and Feeding
All live foods should be rinsed before feeding - They should be drained from their transport water and placed in water from the aquarium for a few minutes. This will help to clean the foods.
Watching the difference in activity at feed times with live foods and watching your fish hunt around for hours after adds an extra dimension to the already enjoyable habit of sitting down and doing nothing except watching your fish.
Bloodworm - all time favourite loved by all fish!
Large bloodworm - great for larger fish like goldfish, angels, gouramis...
Glassworm - does not sink to the bottom like bloodworm. Great for top and middle swimmers!
Artemia (brine shrimp) - one of the most versatile foods used for tropical and marine fish!
Nauplii (baby brine shrimp) - used to feed baby fish or in nano tanks.
Daphnia - great for neons, guppies, danios, pipefish
Tubifex - fatty food that helps young fish grow faster. Should be used as a treat only.
Blackworm - similar to tubifex just a bit larger. Very popular in the shop! Can easily stay in the fridge for 2 weeks.
