CORYPHA LECOMTEI - LECOMTE PALM

Corypha Lecomtei comes from Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Is in danger of extinction in natural habitats. It is a large palm tree, but much smaller than the other Corypha, which are giants. It forms a moderately tall, solitary trunk, topped with a large crown of massive, circular, dark green, coastal leaves. Like all Coryphas, each plant blooms only once with a very large terminal inflorescence that produces thousands of golf ball-sized seeds. It tolerates cooler conditions than other Corypha and, in addition to tropical areas, will also grow in some warm, temperate places.
