The 1962 Salada-Junket Coins baseball set featured 221 different Major League Baseball players appearing on 265 plastic coins, each measuring 1-3/8" in diameter. This unique coin set was distributed in packages of Salada Tea and Junket Pudding mix and originally consisted of 180 examples. However, with the MLB expansion and the additions of the National League's New York Mets and Houston Colt .45's, the set grew to the 265 coin assembly, including the multiple variations. These 1/3/8" discs display a colored paper photograph inserted into the rimmed plastic coin with a posed player bust and the coin number and his team to his left with his name and position to his right. On the embossed backs is the Salada and Junket names as well as "Save 180 Baseball Coins - Save 'Em, Trade 'Em - 10 Players/Each Team." Produced in six different colors, these coins could be held in the 9" by 10-1/2" green plastic shields that held 10 coins each. Scarcities include: Dick Williams (#48a - Name on right), Jackie Brandt (#53a - Orioles), Ed Bailey (#113a - Partial left shoulder; "C" level w/ear) and Ed Broussard (#182a - Bressoud) as well as numerous Hall of Famers.
