Description: 2 x knitting patterns/instructions for you to make pretty fair isle berets/hats and matching handbags.  1930s/40s WWII patterns, where fair isle was popular as it used up oddments of wool, which was scarce due to rationing. 


Measurements: 

Berets/hats are approx 10 1/2 - 11" in diameter.  The bags are 8" - 9" in diameter.  When made in 3ply yarn.  You can use modern 4 ply yarn which is similar in weight to the 3 ply of the time, but please knit a tension square before starting to ensure the finished items are the size you want.


Materials: 

2 or 3 ounces (approx 57 - 85 grams) for the main colour. 1 ounce (approx 28 grams) each of three contrast colours for the set in the left hand photo.  1 ounce (approx 28 grams) in a dark shade and 1/2 ounce (approx 25 grams) in white for the set in the right hand photo.   

Pair each No. 9 (3.75 mm), No. 10 (3.25 mm) , No. 11 (3.00 mm) & No. 13 (2.25 mm) knitting needles, to knit both sets. Medium sized crochet hook for finishing, stiffening, zips, 2 small rings, fabric to line the bags.

The pattern is printed in A4 format on heavy weight paper with colour photos and charts where applicable.  It will be posted in a plastic sleeve and board backed C4 envelope to protect it. 

Due to the age of the pattern, the original yarn suggested may not be available.  It is recommended to knit a tension square with your chosen yarn, before starting, to ensure the finished garment or item is the size you require.
