Still the standard work on the Hungarian Vizsla with information on working, showing, breed standards, breeding and all aspects of care. An excellent book that should be read by all with an interest in Vizslas. This is the 1992 U.S. edition.

"The Vizsla is the aristocrat of the gundogs. It is an ideal worker, combining all three disciplines: hunting, pointing and retrieving. It is also making a name for itself in the show ring, and in this highly comprehensive book, Gay Gottlieb traces the Vizsla's origins in Hungary and charts its spread throughout Europe and the rest of the world. She reveals the art of training a dog for show and field, the Breed Standard is analyzed in detail and breeding principles are discussed in full. There is additional information on the wirehaired Vizsla." (Publisher's blurb).

About the Author: "Gay Gottlieb is one of the leading breeders and exhibitors of Vizslas in Britain, and has won the Top Breeder award for a record of nine years. To date she has bred twenty-two Show Champions, three of which became full Champions, winning honors in the field as well as in the show ring. She has bred the Crufts Best of Breed winner six times in seven years, and won both dog and bitch Challenge Certificates three times. She bred Sh. Ch. Russetmantle Bee, the first Vizsla in Britain to win a Gundog Group. Gay's first full Champion, which she bred and handled herself, was Ch. Russetmantle Troy, whose progeny are in many pedigrees today. However, her most successful dog was Ch. Russetmantle Quiver, whom she bred, trained and handled, both in the field and in the show ring. Quiver won a total of twenty-two Challenge Certificates, worked on shoots for four seasons and competed in Field Trials. Gay Gottlieb is an international Championship Show judge, and in 1993 she will be judging Vizslas at Crufts. Her kennel, which carries the famous Russetmantle prefix, is known worldwide."
