Associations of German war veterans and reservists date back to the Warrior Association established in 1786 by fusiliers in the Prussian army. The original purpose of these associations was to provide their members and former soldiers with proper burial arrangements. These associations received a considerable boost after victorious battles against the Danish (1864), Austrian (1866) and French (1871) armies, and a number of the associations came together as the Deutscher Kriegerbund (German Warrior League) established April 1873 in Weißenfels Germany. Deutscher Kriegerbund efforts resulted a memorial to honor and represent the German warriors -- a monument located on top of Kyffhauser mountain (1896). The building of the memorial inspired the other war veterans' associations to come together, and in 1900 and the Kyffhäuserbund was formed.

I have listed a number Badges from various German towns and one from a town in the USA. look for them.
