A Unique Pattern French Chore Jacket - 1960s - BNWOT - Dead Stock 40+

Acquired from a Rural Supplies Store's closing down sale when on holiday in the South of France in 2007. Tho, never actually worn and stored carefully ever since.

This is a more elegant - and therefore quite unique example of a French 60s Chore Jacket - as a result of the Mediterranean Blue-over-White fine Hounds Tooth Check, larger White Buttons, Button-Down Lapels & a Half Belt/Pleated Back.

Which creates a slightly more fitted look - combined with the usual loose-comfort construction of a traditional French Chore Jacket of the period.

I've never seen another like this - so copies have never ended up on the high street - as with the standard, more basic Blue ones.

And due to its smarter - slightly more formal look - I assume it was designed for delivery/retail/café use - where the wearer was coming into more contact with members of the public ?

N.B. Apologies for the Quality of most of the pictures - Owing to eBay recently introducing format changes to their advertising platform - which means the new software apparently can't cope with more complex textile patterns. However, the closeups do show the check pattern clearly. And I believe the full shots show the cut & overall style reasonably well.

Cleaned and ready to wear

Background

We've acquired a lot of vintage clothing, incl. High Street fashion, and household collectables over the last 20 years. And are now looking to slim things down, as we're intending to move at the end of 2023.

Items were acquired, through some work and expense - mostly from London markets and specialist fairs. And always selected carefully, with thought to condition, quality and whether it represented the best of the era - mostly early to Mid-60s.

Nothing will be offered that is worn out or tired - be it vintage or otherwise

As you may be aware, things of this uniqueness/quality are no longer provided by the the high street - even at the high-end. And the textiles are simply no longer available.

And, as we know the disappointment of receiving things that are not as presented, will be making every effort to describe things fully and honestly. Whilst providing any guidance on sizing we can

Everything being sent clean & ready to wear.
