This listing is for 1 pcs of the DS18B20 digital thermometer IC.

This little device, and yes, its a device, internally reads temperature and outputs over a single pin out, with the other 2 pins being power in and ground. No special controller neccesary beyond what you need to enterpret what its outputting, and any such device capable of reading a digital signal will have GPIOs on which to also send information to the DS18B20 to alter its sample rate, as well as enabling a few other neat features or altering other settings.

While i have not personally used it in this way, i have been told that you can connect multiple thermometers to a single GPIO pin all sharing a common line of communication, and that they have an alarm/flag feature that can warn the main device when one of the sensors is exceeding a certain range, besides of course including functions to still identify each individual sensor.
