Since its firmware update v1.1.1, the A500 mini supports the use of ADFs.

Thus, when you go to the media selection screen (the USB key icon on the carousel), it now displays ADF files and playlists in addition to WHDLoad/LHA files.

Here is, below, a small instruction manual of the manipulations to be carried out for the use of the ADF:

1) Case of games composed of a single ADF (and therefore a single diskette):

Position yourself on an ADF file with the joystick and select it with the A button.

Then press the "HOME" button to start emulation.

2) Case of games composed of 2 to 3 ADF (and therefore 2 to 3 diskettes):

Position yourself on the first ADF file with the joystick and select it with the A button.

Press R2 to switch to the second slot

Place yourself on the second ADF file with the joystick and select it with the A button.

Press R2 to switch to the second slot

Position yourself on the third ADF file with the joystick and select it with the A button.

Then press the "HOME" button to start emulation.

During the game, when the game asks for a change of floppy disk, it will then suffice to indicate the slot in which the required floppy disk is inserted:

Hold down the "HOME" key and navigate through the slots with the "R" button

3) Case of games composed of more than 3 ADF (therefore 4 diskettes and more):

You have to create "playlists"

A playlist allows you to choose multi-floppy games with a single click and at the same time avoids problems with incorrect file selection.

It is required for games with more than three floppy disks, although it can also be created for games with three or less if desired.

A playlist is a text file with an .m3u extension

It simply lists all the ADF files in the game.

So, let's imagine we want to create a playlist for a game named "game" consisting of the 5 ADFs:

Game (Disk 1 of 5).ADF, Game (Disk 2 of 5).ADF, Game (Disk 3 of 5).ADF, Game (Disk 4 of 5).ADF and Game (Disk 5 of 5).ADF

Then the text file named "Game.m3u" (it is possible to name it as you wish) would simply contain the following lines:

Game (Disk 1 of 5).ADF

Game (Disk 2 of 5).ADF

Game (Disk 3 of 5).ADF

Game (Disk 4 of 5).ADF

Game (Disk 5 of 5).ADF

And it is this "Game.m3u" file that must be selected on the media selection screen (the USB key icon on the carousel) and launched with the "HOME" button.

Note that filenames can also contain a path relative to the location of the playlist file, giving the option of placing ADF files in a different directory to keep the playlist directory clean.

For example, it is possible to place the ADF files in an "ADF Files" directory, then create playlists at the same level:

/USB Drive/ADF Files/Game A (Disk 1 of 2).ADF

/USB Drive/ADF Files/Game A (Disk 2 of 2).ADF

/USB Drive/ADF Files/Game B (Disk 1 of 2).ADF

/USB Drive/ADF Files/Game B (Disk 1 of 2).ADF

/USB key/Game A.m3u

/USB Key/Game B.m3u

The Game A.m3u playlist file should then contain two lines as follows (note that the file paths are relative, so there is no '/' file separator):

ADF/Game A Files (Disk 1 of 2).ADF

ADF/Game A Files (Disk 2 of 2).ADF

To add and load your own programs from your USB stick.
