  • Lion's Ear, also known as Klip Dagga, is an annual flower originally native to Africa and southern India.
  • Plant grows to between 8 and 12 feet in height and produces stunning clusters of tubular, furry, bright orange flowers that bloom from late summer through early fall and are said to resemble a lion's ear.
  • Hummingbird's are very attracted to the nectar-filled blooms and will often engage in turf wars over the plant!
  • Nearly every part of the plant is used in traditional herbal medicine, though the flowers in particular are said to produce a calming, mildly euphoric effect.
  • Start indoors 6 weeks before the last spring frost by sowing seeds 1/8 inch deep in small, individual pots. Or, direct sow in spring after the threat of frost has passed by planting seeds 1/8 inch deep and 12 inches apart.
  • 60 days to maturity.
