More about this stamp: In 2008, the US Postal Service issued a strip of 5 commemorative stamps in a series called "America on the Move:  50s Fins and Chrome".  These 42c stamps featured automobiles noted for their flashy hardware and "aerodynamics."

The stamp featured here is the 1957 Pontiac Star Chief Custom Safari.  This two-door hardtop could carry up to six passengers and had extra chrome detailing inside the vehicle.  It featured Pontiac's Star Flight styling with extended rear fenders and missile-shaped flattened fins.

A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847. Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. This stamp has been designated as Scott Number 4355.
