More about this stamp: In 2008, the US Postal Service issued a strip of 5 commemorative stamps in a series called "America on the Move:  50s Fins and Chrome".  These 42c stamps featured automobiles noted for their flashy hardware and "aerodynamics."

The stamp featured here is the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado.  It was known for its dramatic tail fins that were more than three feet off the ground.  Designed as a luxury car with a name meaning "golden," it had leather seats and interior, custom carpeting, and decorator-styled tail lamps.

A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847. Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. This stamp has been designated as Scott Number 4353.
