In 1997, the US Postal Service commemorated Classic American Aircraft by issuing a pane of twenty 32-cent stamps.  It was illustrated by William Phillips, one of the foremost aviation print artists.  Celebrating the first 50 years of American aviation history, the stamps highlight the innovative technologies of both commercial and military aircraft.

The stamp shown here in a 4.75 by 3.75 wood frame is the Corsair.  This bent-winged fighter saw extensive victories in World War II and Korea.  Also known as the F4U, The Corsair was retired in the 1970's.

Please indicate what color frame you prefer:  walnut, black, or white.  (If no color specified, black will be sent).

A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847. Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. This stamp has been designated as Scott Number 3142g.
