Perry Ellis by Marc Jacobs
Spring Summer 1991 Runway Collection
Gold Metallic Knit Oversized Cardigan Sweater
Size Large
Made in USA

Incredibly rare find from one of the Marc Jacobs Perry Ellis collections. Jacobs was notoriously terminated from Perry Ellis after his Spring 1993 Grunge collection (presented in 1992).

This hand knit, oversized cardigan was one of the few pieces chosen by Jacobs to be shown to the press in preview images prior to the Runway show. In the press photos, it was styled as an evening shawl over a metallic mini dress. In the runway show, it was styled over silk trousers and a loose sweater. The styling choices by Marc Jacobs show how effortless it is to style this cardigan.

Perry Ellis is largely known for revitalizing luxury / designer knitwear in the 1970's. One of his signatures was a simple, hand knit sweater with one, large cable knit down the middle. This sweater shows the genius of Marc Jacobs and his attention to designer hallmarks by his ability to include one, large cable knit line into each of the shoulders. A very quiet brand code and a wink to the genius of Perry Ellis.

It's in great condition for the age. There are some light pulls on the inside.
