Apollo - Soyuz was the first crewed international space mission carried out jointly by the United States and the Soviet Union in July 1975. The mission was watched by millions around the world as the two capsules docked. Upon docking the two crews shook hands in space and that event is generally considered to mark the end of the space race which had begun in 1957 with the launch of Sputnik 1. The Soviet crew consisted of commander Alexei Leonov and Flight Engineer Valeri Kubasov. Listed for auction is a vintage color photograph signed by Alexei Leonov and Valeri Kubasov. There are no markings, but I believe this is a Soviet produced photograph, the image shows the crew standing in front of the Soviet capsule used during the Apollo-Soyuz mission and is signed ''A Leonov'' and V Kubasov'' in black felt pen. The autographs have been authenticated by Zarelli Space Authentication and will be accompanied with the above Letter of Authenticity. The photograph is a quality color gloss image which measures 9.50 x 7.00 inches and is in fine condition. It is a desirable example, authenticated and ideal for display.
