A low noise amplifier (LNA) is an electronic device that amplifies weak signals while minimising the amount of noise added to the signal. LNAs are commonly used in radio frequency (RF) and microwave systems to amplify signals in the early stages of receiver systems before the signal is further processed. This is important in applications where the signal strength is very low, and the noise floor is high. LNA's are designed to have a low noise figure, a measure of the amount of noise added by the amplifier to the signal, and high gain, which is the amount of amplification provided by the amplifier.
