Period 1770 Chippendale drawer front with carved shell in walnut taken from a highboy.  The item measures 13" x 8" x 1".  The carving is deep and well executed, and the drawer has a beaded edge.  The reverse side shows the remaining dovetails.  The drawer front makes a nice hanging display, especially for the collector of American antique furniture.  Really nice piece with a pleasing finish.  This and the other similar antique furniture elements hung in the shop of a local 3rd generation cabinet maker and collector of antiques until he passed away.  They have hung in my own home as a grouping for some 10 years.
