The Doors were an American rock band formed in '65 with Jim Morrison (vocals), Ray Manzarek (keyboard), Robby Krieger (guitar) & John Densmore (drums). They were among the most controversial & influential rock acts of the '60s, mostly because of Morrison's lyrics & erratic stage persona. The band is widely regarded as representative of the era's counterculture. They released 8 albums in 5 years, some considered among the greatest of all time, including The Doors ('67), Strange Days ('67), & L.A. Woman ('71). Morrison died under uncertain circumstances in '71. The band continued as a trio until disbanding in '73. They released 3 more albums in the '70s (2 featuring earlier recordings by Morrison) & over the decades have reunited on stage in various configurations. They were the 1st American band to accumulate 8 consecutive gold LPs. Rolling Stone Magazine ranked them 41st on its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time & in '93 were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The Doors have sold over 100 million records, making them 1 of the best-selling bands of all time!
