Vintage black lacquered trunk with mother of pearl inlay depicting branches, flowers and birds that start on the front and elegantly grow toward and onto the chest's top. The trunk's sides have indented bas-relief handles in the shape of a fan. The four feet are stair-stepped and the actual trunk sits about 3" above the floor. The lock is missing one knob, but I have the key. This piece has been in the family since 1963 and shows normal wear and tear from usage and moving, with a patch of slight sun bleach in the lacquer at one corner of the top. The chest measures 37"x18"x19.25," so it holds quite a bit and the inside is in very good condition with only a couple of ink spots.
