These Japanese handmade fishing floats are real authentic floats made and used by fishermen in the Erimo area of Hokkaido, Japan.
Ukidama was originally used for herring fishing during the Meiji and Taisho eras. Made in a glass factory in Otaru, which is famous for its canals.
In Japan, plastic and polystyrene have replaced glass fishing floats, making real glass fishing floats highly collectible.
