About these stamps:  The US Postal Service issued these five stamps called "Bright Eyes" in 1999.  These stamps paid homage to the most popular house pets in the United States.  Included were: the cat, the parakeet, the hamster, the dog, and the goldfish.

A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847.  Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. These stamps have been designated as Scott Number 3234a.
