A small treasure from my personal collection of traditional Asian decorative arts. Premier example of desirable form and size - sensitively enameled with bird perched on a flowering tree against a jet black ground. A narrow blue key band encircles the base, just above the brass foot.
Stellar craftsmanship in the demanding process is evidenced by use of extremely fine silver (vs. copper) wires forming cells. The artisan achieved both technical excellence and beauty.
