Complete kit for HNO3 production via Birkeland-Eyde process.

It is a kit to assemble yourself by following the steps in the PDF below, which will allow you to produce within 20g of HNO3 per day (more or less according to the building factors) while consuming around 50 watts.
I can guarantee you to get nitric acid, but the amount per unit of time depends on many parameters like gap space between electrodes, the distance of input fresh air from arc, level of water in the bubbler tank, etc.

Mounting :
This equipment requires some little DIY skills, read the instructions in the PDF before please.
No specific tools are needed, only common ones like cutter, scissors…
Due to the little amount of corrosive gas (NO+NO2) I advise you to let it run in a safe place or outside, shelter from the rain.

Process :
The principle is to produce nitric acid (HNO3), from the ambiant air, by heating it to plasma, « near 3000°C » by using the following reactions :
N2 + O2 ⟶  2 NO, then 2 NO + O2 ⟶  2 NO2
Who is able to react with water : 3 NO2 + H2O ⟶  2 HNO3 + NO

I strongly advise you to read some documents online, like the wikipedia page or other sources.
The process
is very simple BUT inefficient and slow (especially for this little kit).
You should reach near 15/25g of HNO3/KWH of energy consumed.
It is not amazing, but if you are a little laboratory and just need some bottles or you are just curious of the process, with pedagogical views, it is interesting.

You will reach a low concentration, probably never over 20 %, but enough to reach azeotropic concentration (near 67%) with distillations.
