Bolivia 1906 cover Cochabamba to Luton via Tupiza + Late Train cancel, Hat industry?

We have for auction a scarce cover sent in 1906 from Cochabamba in Bolivia to Luton in the United Kingdom. Sent on 10 Feb 1906 by Oscar A Ehrhorn via Tupiza and Buenos Aires. The reverse has a machine wavy line cancel for a late train, Trena Resado. The small Luton thimble cds is dated 30 March 1906 and means the journey took over 7 weeks! More detailed research is needed on this fascinating cover, but we have found this abstract from a research paper on Bolivia: One of the most attractive chacras in Cala-cala is owned by a North American, Mr. Oscar Ehrhorn, of San Francisco, California, who has lived in Cochabamba many years and is enthusiastic over the climate and the future business prospects of this section, which he regards as the garden spot of Bolivia. The name of the recipient is unclear but may be B Shaumann. Census records show he did not live at the address but was probably a boarder, BUT the house belonged to a wealthy local in Luton who was a manufacturer employing workers in the making of Hats. It is probable that this was a trade letter sent to a representative in the UK to make a supply of raw material to the hat industry and/or for the purchase of hats, probably Bowler Hats. There is a story behind this cover regardless. Keywords: Fashion, Mercury Mercuric nitrate panama industry international trade.
