Hasselblad OPTON 80mm C F/2.8 Lens, in Excellent++ condition, with mint- glass.

This is the silver anodized version of the standard 80mm lens.  The serial number 4203183 would indicate being

made in 1966.  But the OPTON engraving, has special significance.  Carl Zeiss was taken to court, by the original

Zeiss company in East Germany.  Zeiss had the patent on the lens names Planar, Distagon, & Sonnar etc.  Carl Zeiss

was prohibited from selling their lenses in the USSR, controlled eastern European countries.  So lenses sold in the

Russian controlled countries, were labeled OPTON and with abbreviated lens designations (eg Pl for Planar in this

case).  These lenses are relatively rare, and seldom seem in the USA.  The lens performs as it should. The glass has

some faint cleaning marks, & slight dust.  Lens has a hair, inside.  It has been serviced with a shutter cleaning and

checking, & adjusting of all the lens functions.  The shutter speeds are accurate except for 1 second, and 1/500  (1

second about ½ stop fast – would underexpose by ½ and the 1/500 with is slow by about 2/3 stop and would

overexpose).  The slow 1/500 is typical of older lenses.  A service sheet with the service information is included.

The lens comes in the plastic bubble case, & front lens cap.  Case has a crack.
