A rare souvenir faience plate, issued in France before the death of the Russian Emperor Alexander III in 1884 - the emperor's portrait, placed in the center of the small coat of arms of the Russian Empire, is surrounded by a gold edging, however, the years of his life are written on the back of the plate in black mourning ink - probably the plate was made during the life of the king, however, this batch was put on sale after his death, adding an appropriate inscription on the back of the plate.
Similar souvenir plates on topical issues of our time were produced in France in the Sarreguemines region, famous for its faience products.
On the reverse side of the plate there are overglaze inscriptions: an explanatory inscription with the name of the emperor and the years of his life and some brand of the manufacturer.
