Vintage 1989 US Sprint Walkie Talkie Headset Playtime Headphones not working.

This vintage toy walkie-talkie headset is not working. It has no major scrapes or scratches on the outside. One of the foam earpieces has a small split and it has seen in pictures. Battery compartment is clean. I’ve tested with 9 V battery, but nothing plays through the ear speakers. May need a second set to work, but selling as not working since I do not have that to test with. See pictures or details of exact conditions.
